Autor je djelo napisao 974/1566. godine i posvetio sultanu Selimu II (974/1566 - 982/1574). Prije toga, autor je u Egiptu završio medicinske nauke i onda prešao u Istanbul, gdje je uspješno od bolesti zglobova izliječio sultana Sulejmana, koji ga je potom imenovao za glavnog ljekara (ra’īsu al-aṭ-ṭibā’).
